  • Inspired by the sea paintings of JMW Turner, this painting uses the abstract language of gesture, mark and surface. There is equal parts turbulence and luminosity in this work. I grew up on sailboats, sailing the waters of New England and Nantucket Island. The sea, sky and weather greatly influence his painting which aims not to be a representational depiction of landscape but rather a landscape (or seascape) of experience.
