This painting has a history you can feel in its surface. I built it up in layers over time, then sanded it back down, then painted again — a process of accumulation and erasure that left the panel smooth and luminous in a way that a single layer of paint never could be. What's underneath is still present, just beneath the surface.
The inspiration came from watercolors I made over the summer, working from the landscape directly. Through abstraction and simplification, those observations became something more interior: movements of green, blue, and red that suggest an ethereal landscape of memory rather than a specific place. It arrives framed and ready to hang.
