This one took longer than most to find its way. For a long time the greens were tangled through the middle of the canvas — dense, dark, almost suffocating. I kept working, and eventually I understood what the painting needed: more space. Those heavy colors had to move to the edges. To the periphery.

There's a metaphor in there that I didn't plan but couldn't ignore — the meditative idea of clearing the center, making room to breathe. That's really what I'm after in all of my paintings: creating space through color and light that you can actually enter. A place to stand, to be still, to be aware of where you are.

This painting is an invitation to do exactly that.
